Tiger Highlight: Celebrating Our Musical Stars! 🌟🐯🎶
Recently, students from Lucy Wortham James Elementary participated in the Central District Elementary Choir event! They joined forces with students from various schools in our district for a day filled with music.
With 190 students in attendance, our 11 young vocalists practiced throughout the day under the guidance of an experienced Clinician. Their dedication paid off with a wonderful performance of five songs for their friends and family later in the afternoon.
Congratulations to our talented singers for showcasing their #tigerpride and shining brightly! #academicexcellence #MIOSM #stjschools

Learning Highlight: Conflict Resolution with "The Butter Battle!" 🧈🔎🐯
The tale of "The Butter Battle" by Dr. Seuss imparts invaluable lessons to students on the importance of acceptance and embracing diverse perspectives. In Mrs. Witt’s kindergarten class, students dove into this theme by voicing opinions and working together. They made homemade butter and then conducted a taste test—toast with butter on top versus underneath. This engaging activity instilled valuable lessons in teamwork and critical thinking!
We believe in hands-on learning that sparks curiosity and empowers students through exploration and discovery! #academicexcellence #stjschools #tigerpride

Yesterday, our talented band and choir students brought musical inspiration to our 5th graders, giving them a preview of the fine arts awaiting them at St. James Middle School. From trying out different instruments to performances, 5th graders explored the different options available next year. As big transitions approach, our teachers are here to guide and empower students for what lies ahead!
At St. James R-1 School District, empowerment isn't just a goal—it's our commitment to unlocking the full potential of every student! #ArtsInEducation #stjschools #tigerpride
🌟 Learning Highlight: Empowering Change Through Creativity! 🌟
In partnership with Missouri Department of Transportation's "No MOre Trash!" campaign, middle school citizenship students participated in the Trash-Can Decorating Contest. They transformed a plain old trash can into a masterpiece, featuring none other than the iconic Oscar the Grouch. Our students didn't just stop at decorating! They took action by cleaning up the ditches in front of our school, collecting trash to incorporate into their project.
Let's turn Oscar's frown upside down together, as we pledge to "Feed the Can, Man!" instead of littering. Together, we can make a difference in keeping our community clean and green. 💚🔄
Kudos to our amazing students for their dedication to promoting a cleaner, greener future! #NoMOreTrash #stjschools #tigerpride
