During the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas break, the St. James Middle School Citizenship class worked to make Christmas brighter for area youth. This year, the class raised nearly $1000 selling hot chocolate at school.
On December 19th, the 12 students who worked to raise the funds went shopping to purchase dozens of gifts and donated them to the St. James Sports Club to support their Christmas Toy Drive.
"I'm consistently impressed by the hard work and generosity of these kids," said Assistant Principal Becky Daniels. "Mr. Perona continues to teach our students what it means to be a good citizen, and he provides so many opportunities to put those lessons into action."
Students were able to see and learn how their contributions helped the project. They met with Sports Club members to learn about the program and it's impact on the community.
