Students at Lucy Wortham James Elementary just wrapped up an exciting new adventure called the IditaREAD! Did you know Mrs. Gray once called Alaska home for eight incredible years? Her love for the Last Frontier and the legendary Iditarod sparked the creation of our inaugural year for IditaREAD!
Through this initiative, students engaged in the wonders of the Iditarod trail firsthand. From interactive pop-up museums to tracing the racers' path on a giant map, our library became a gateway to a new world.

Recently, students from Lucy Wortham James Elementary participated in the Central District Elementary Choir event! They joined forces with students from various schools in our district for a day filled with music.
With 190 students in attendance, our 11 young vocalists practiced throughout the day under the guidance of an experienced Clinician. Their dedication paid off with a wonderful performance of five songs for their friends and family later in the afternoon.

The tale of "The Butter Battle" by Dr. Seuss imparts invaluable lessons to students on the importance of acceptance and embracing diverse perspectives. In Mrs. Witt’s kindergarten class, students dove into this theme by voicing opinions and working together. They made homemade butter and then conducted a taste test—toast with butter on top versus underneath. This engaging activity instilled valuable lessons in teamwork and critical thinking!
