Tiger Selected for Missouri Agribusiness Academy! ❤️🐯🤍
Congratulations to Kate Strackeljahn for being selected to the 2025 Missouri Agribusiness Academy (MAbA)!
Kate is one of only 30 high school sophomores across Missouri chosen for this prestigious program. She will spend a week in Kansas City this June, exploring careers in agriculture, developing leadership skills, and learning more about farming, ranching, and food production.
Beyond the summer experience, MAbA members participate in the Missouri State Fair, a Legislative Day, and a special graduation at the 2026 Missouri FFA Convention.

Recently, eighth graders had a special visit from the high school St. James FFA chapter! Through conversations and a hands-on teamwork activity, these student leaders helped spark curiosity and connection.
At St. James R-1, we know that caring relationships are the foundation of learning. When older students take the time to mentor and guide those coming up behind them, it creates a lasting impact. The FFA members modeled leadership and the power of shared experiences—showing that learning doesn’t just happen in a classroom, but in the bonds we build along the way.

At last night’s board meeting, we had the privilege of recognizing some outstanding individuals!
👉 National Beta students from all three buildings were honored for their incredible achievements at this year’s state convention. Their hard work continues to make us proud!
👉 Our Board of Education was recognized in honor of School Board Recognition Month! They received special notes from students, certificates from MSBA and Representative Tara Peters, and our amazing St James PTO sweetened the celebration with cupcakes!

A group of 6th-grade girls, including members of ROX and their friends, participated in a special self-defense class led by Mr. Alan Vance and our own Mrs. Katie DuClos. This class was organized as part of the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) curriculum. With support from the kickboxing class, our students learned not just physical skills but also the importance of confidence and self-worth.

From the Capitol to the Classroom: A Visit from State Representative Tara J. Peters! ❤️🐯🤍
Today, Representative Peters visited St. James Middle School! She met with the ROX Group to discuss women in leadership and received a special tour from a few of our incredible members. Then, she stopped by Citizenship class to talk about government and how her role connects to their work in class.
