Celebrating Milestones: Kindergarten Graduation!
Tonight was a joy-filled evening as we welcomed the newest class of Tigers, while also preparing to bid farewell to our graduating seniors who will receive their diplomas tomorrow. It's an incredible full-circle moment. The Class of 2035 has officially arrived!
Our little graduates dazzled the crowd with their heartfelt songs, accompanied by the cheerful sounds of their homemade tambourines crafted during art class. Each teacher proudly presented their students, revealing their dreams and aspirations for the future.

Third-grade students at Lucy Wortham James Elementary had a blast at their MAP Carnival! They earned points during MAP testing and redeemed them at the carnival, enjoying snacks, games, and even a photo booth. The MAP Carnival was held on the fourth-grade playground so students could get a sneak peek for next year!

Field Day Fun at Lucy Wortham James Elementary School!
You know we’re nearing the end of the school year when it’s time for LWJE’s Annual Field Day! Our dedicated teachers organized a day filled with fun activities for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. From long jump to soccer, foot races to water relays, our students had a blast! The weather couldn't have been more perfect, with clear skies and plenty of sunshine. To top it all off, they enjoyed popsicles to beat the heat. Thank you to our amazing staff for making this day possible!

Learning Highlight: Mentos vs. Soda!
Earlier this week, Mrs. Owen's students gathered outside to witness the explosive power of science! The experiment was all about finding out which type of soda would shoot higher when Mentos were added.
With curious minds and safety goggles in place, the students conducted their experiment. Mrs. Owen carefully dropped Mentos into various bottles of soda, waiting for the grand eruptions to occur. And what a show it was! Soda fountains soared into the air, reaching impressive heights.

During the 22-23 school year, fourth and fifth-grade students at Lucy Wortham James Elementary School embarked on a friendly "book race" to see which grade could read the most books, and we're proud to share that they collectively read a whopping 3,300 books!

St. James R-1 School District's Graduation for the Class of 2023 is scheduled for May 19, 2023, at 7:00 PM. This event will take place at the St. James Tigers Football Field, weather permitting.
Please mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate the incredible achievements of our graduates. In the event of inclement weather, we have a backup plan in place. The location will be moved to the St. James Middle School, ensuring the ceremony goes on rain or shine! We encourage you to arrive early and allow ample time for parking and entry before 7:00 PM.
