St. James R-1 High School made a generous donation of items to Russell House, a local non-profit dedicated to providing compassionate services to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The donation was presented to Russell House on February 3, 2023 during the Courtwarming Assembly at the high school.
Students at St. James R-1 High School chose a local organization to partner with for their Service Learning Project for the 2022-2023 school year. They picked the Russell House: a domestic and sexual violence service provider and shelter. Russell House works toward empowering survivors of violence and increasing community safety in Phelps, Crawford, Dent, and Maries County.
The donation included 675 pairs of socks, 32 blankets, boxes of diapers, and personal hygiene products. Each grade level decided what items they would collect for their donation. Students at the high school are living the Tiger Way by assisting in our ongoing efforts to support local organizations that make a positive impact in the community.
With this donation, Russell House will be better equipped to continue its services which include:
- Shelter
- Crisis Intervention
- Support Groups
- Counseling
- Court/Legal Advocacy
- Hospital Advocacy
- Safety Planning
- Volunteer Program
- Awareness Programs
