St. James R-1 School District Board of Education, on Wednesday, May 8th, approved the hiring of Mr. Bryan Carty as Assistant Principal for St. James High School for the 2024-2025 school year.
“Mr. Carty's diverse background in education, coaching, and hands-on work outside of education uniquely positions him to guide our students toward success in their futures,” stated Superintendent Webster. “Those experiences equip him to understand and support the varied paths our students may choose. We are confident that Mr. Carty will empower our students to pursue their passions and achieve their goals.”
Mr. Carty will be entering his 13th year in education and his 3rd year as a high school administrator. Mr. Carty spent 10 years teaching science from 7th grade through high school biology. He completed his undergraduate studies at Southeast Missouri State University and holds a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University. Mr. Carty is set to finish his Specialist Degree in Superintendency from Northwest Missouri State University in June.
“First and foremost, I would like to ensure we push our students to achieve their dreams and support them in pursuit of those dreams," said Mr. Bryan Carty regarding his vision for St. James High School. "Relationships are at the core of education, and I will work very diligently to ensure we are building those relationships with students and other stakeholders to help support that cause."
Mr. Carty emphasized the importance of being visible and available to all stakeholders in building strong relationships. He plans to actively participate in school and community events and personally engage with students and teachers beyond the classroom. He also expressed eagerness to collaborate with educators and parents to support the students of St. James High School.
Mr. Carty brings a unique background outside of the classroom. He is a 2004 graduate of Salem High School and is 5th generation on the same family farm located just 15 miles from St. James off of 68 highway. Mr. Carty still operates the family farm with his wife and two sons. They are also excitedly anticipating the arrival of a baby girl this fall. His experiences growing up on the family farm, operating heavy equipment, and working for the railroad provide him with a diverse understanding of the practical application of the concepts taught at St. James High School. When not at school, Mr. Carty can usually be found on the farm or at a sporting event watching his boys play.
Mr. Carty will begin his role as Assistant Principal on July 1, 2024.
