UPDATE: The Affordability Connectivity Program will stop accepting new applications and enrollments on February 7, 2024. Consumers must be approved and enrolled with a service provider 11:59 p.m. ET on February 7 to receive the ACP benefit.

The Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) bridges the digital gap for families and households facing challenges in affording internet services. The Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) has extended its support to our Tiger Community to aid individuals in accessing this important program.

Key Benefits Offered by the ACP Include:

  • Up to a $30/month discount for broadband service.
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for the purchase of a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet through a participating provider, contingent upon the household contributing more than $10 but less than $50 towards the purchase price.

Notably, the ACP is limited to offering one monthly service discount and one device discount per household.

Eligibility Criteria for the ACP:

Households are eligible for the ACP if their income falls at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Alternatively, eligibility extends to households where a member meets any of the following criteria:

  • Participates in the Free and Reduced Price School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year.
  • Meets eligibility criteria for a participating provider's existing low-income internet program.
  • Participates in various assistance programs like SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), WIC, Veterans Pension or Survivor Benefits, or Lifeline (a federal program reducing the monthly cost of phone and internet service).

Enrollment Process: A Two-Step Method

  • Access AffordableConnectivity.gov to submit an application or obtain a mail-in application.
  • Contact your preferred participating provider to select a plan and apply the discount to your bill. Some providers might require an alternative application.

Eligible households must complete both the program application and engage with a participating provider to select a service plan.

This program offers a great opportunity for eligible households to bridge the digital divide and access essential connectivity. For assistance: https://www.meramecregion.org/...
