For Mission Monday, St. James R-1 School District is celebrating the recent success of its talented students at the National Beta Convention in Louisville, KY. With thirty students competing across various categories, their achievements were exceptional. Students had to first compete and qualify during the Missouri State Convention earlier this Spring in order to attend the National Beta Convention.
Notable Senior Beta highlights include:
Solo, Duo, Trio Variety Act - 9th Place: Navy Setzer
Division I Drawing - 9th Place: Carson Midyett
Book Battle - 6th Place: Nikki Rush, Krina Patel, and Vanessa Perona
Black and White Photography - 4th Place: Emily Douglas
Marketing and Communications - 2nd Place: Makayla Copeland, Jason Wilkerson, Cooper Harlan, and Navy Setzer
Other notable participants include Johnny Perkins competing in Academics - Social Studies, a Small Group Talent singing performance by M'Lynn Steen, Addalye Felan, Johnny Perkins, Abby McKee, Audrey Mankin, and Nikki Rush, Pandora Johnson's on-site art submission. Senior Beta also competed in the Club Trading Pin competition.
Notable Elementary Beta highlights include:
Spelling Bee - 10th Place - Braylee Giesler
Other participants included Kinley Lorts and Asher Keyes competing in Academics Math and Science respectively; Emma Meurer’s painting, Collin Watson’s sculpture, Blair McCurdy’s drawing, and Charlee Alterauge’s fiber arts project showcased the diverse creativity within St. James R-1 School District. The engineering team, consisting of Cason Smith, Owen Bahr, Snyder Stack, Auggie Unger, and Fletcher Redburn, demonstrated their skills and innovative thinking. The robotics team consisting of Harrison Gardner, Asher Keyes, and Collin Swee, with assistance from Emma Meurer, displayed exceptional problem-solving skills and teamwork.
