St. James R-1 School District is proud to announce that we have been chosen as one of the recipients of the School Safety Grant Program, launched by Governor Mike Parson. This grant program is designed to help schools improve the safety and security of their facilities and ensure that students are protected in the event of an emergency.
As a district where student safety is our top priority, we are excited to receive this grant of $200,000, which will allow us to begin important updates and maintenance projects related to school safety that we would not have been able to start otherwise. While we are grateful for this funding, we recognize that this is a start to maintaining our buildings to ensure that our schools are as safe as possible.
We are committed to working with our local emergency personnel for recommendations and will take action to ensure student safety. Through our district safety meetings, we have identified several areas that we believe are top priorities, such as complete security devices that also function as vape detectors and security window film for building entrances.
We are grateful for the Governor's dedication to promoting school safety in Missouri and pleased to be a part of this significant endeavor. We will not stop striving to make our schools safe, secure places where our students can succeed.
