Almost 100 dedicated and hardworking students from Lucy Wortham James Elementary and St. James Middle School earned a well-deserved spot on the Readers' Wall of Fame. To achieve this, they had to read at least four of the Missouri Readers' Award nominees, requiring dedication and a love of reading.
To celebrate their achievement, the students gathered tonight for the Mark Twain and Truman Readers' Award Celebration Event. The event was made even more special with the attendance of the Mark Twain Award-nominated author, Taryn Souders. During the event, Souders spoke about her writing, providing a peek into her creative process and research methods.
In addition to the author's talk, students were treated to dinner and a Breakout Box Mystery game, based on Souders' book "Coop Knows the Scoop." The game was a fun and exciting way to engage with the story.
Congratulations to the students of St. James R-1 School District for their achievement. And a big thank you to Taryn Souders for sharing her expertise with the students!
