Librarian Cheryl Harlan gives a lesson about Blackout Poetry

It's National Poetry Month and National School Library Month, and what better way to celebrate than by heading to the library to work on a fun and creative project?

High school ELA students have been working with their librarian, Mrs. Harlan, to create Blackout Poetry. What is Blackout Poetry, you ask? Well, it's a form of poetry where you pick a page of text and highlight certain words to create a new poem. The result is a visually striking and thought-provoking poem that expresses your individual perspective and emotions.

Not only is this project a fun and creative way to celebrate National Poetry Month, but it's also a great opportunity for students to work collaboratively with their librarian, teachers, and peers. Check out some of the finished poems!
