Superintendent Reports

I want to thank the students, staff, parents and community members for the recent support demonstrated at the August 7 Groundbreaking Ceremony. Despite some rainfall prior to the event, we had an outstanding turnout. It was an enjoyable afternoon of celebrating this historic event for the future of St. James R-I School District and the students who will benefit because of these improvements for generations to come.

Construction work on both the high school and elementary campuses has been in full swing for a little under a month. We are excited to see modifications to the high school building and the site preparation for the new early childhood. I am further excited to report a smooth start to the school year. Although there is much happening outside with construction, there is little evidence of this affecting instruction within our classrooms. The only negative to report is that our high school gym suffered some water damage during one of our storms last week. Due to the water intrusion, high school gym classes have been relocated outside and other alternative locations.

As we navigate into the heart of the academic school year, we will continue to serve and provide equitable opportunities, outstanding instruction and program support to all of our students. We will continue to practice the values we have espoused as an organization and do our very best to help each child and each family find success.

In St. James, this is not only who we are, it is who we will continue to grow to become. We will not lose sight of our recently proposed mission – to empower students through caring relationships, academic excellence and community partnerships to encourage leadership in the global community. We will continue to challenge ourselves and each other to live this mission and serve each child on a daily basis.
