Superintendent Reports

The first half of the 2018-2019 school year is nearing an end. We have joined in celebrating many awesome student centered accomplishments so far this year and are hopeful to continue more great things as we move into 2019. Our fall activities concluded in strong fashion and we are now preparing, with much anticipation, for our winter academics, sports, and extracurriculars.

This time of year, we often reflect on the things for which we are most thankful. I have much to be thankful for in both my personal and professional lives. I am thankful for being raised in a home of faith and one where learning during and beyond school was a constant theme. I am thankful for a wonderful wife and awesome children who have developed the strength and patience to support me as I balance my time between work and home. Their support through professional and personal challenges makes life more meaningful.

Professionally, I continue to feel blessed to be able to work alongside so many great people in St. James. In my third year as superintendent, I still marvel at the incredible devotion of the St. James R-I staff and their unique ability to teach and inspire our students. We are so fortunate to have so many great folks employed here! I am thankful for the support of the parents in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. Our parents allow us to be part of their children’s lives, which is an amazing honor and a tremendous privilege. They support us in the work we do, and they share with us in the joy of their children’s education. Our parents make St. James R-I Schools a stronger district and I am extremely grateful for all they do.

I also feel fortunate to have the strong support of our churches, businesses, and community organizations. They provide volunteers, classroom resources, technology, school supplies, internships, and recognition for our teachers and students. Their generosity allows us to offer more opportunities to our children despite the challenges schools face, and they are a critical part of the success throughout St. James.

Our Board of Education is one of the best in the state. They truly care about children, and they support our staff and students. They are compassionate leaders who value public education. I feel honored to work with them, and I am grateful for their service.

The strength of St. James R-I Schools lies in the people we employ and the community we serve. I am so grateful to be part of the St. James family. Thank you for all you do, and I wish you and your family a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
