COVID-19 Communications

Dear St. James R-I Families,

I would like to thank our families for a great first week of school! We are so excited to have our staff and students back on our campuses. We experienced four outstanding days of school with great things happening in each of our buildings!

The purpose of this communication is to provide transparency regarding the effects of COVID-19 cases within our district. We will remain in constant contact with the Phelps/Maries County Department of Health and are prepared to shut down cohorts, buildings, or the entire district if cases rise and closures are in the best interest of our community. In addition to the contact tracing process for students and staff who require quarantine, we will notify you of positive cases within our district. We do not plan to include personally identifiable information in our district wide communications in an effort to respect the privacy of our students and staff.

The St. James R-I School District will release weekly updates detailing the number of positive cases and the number of individuals who have been quarantined within our district. A weekly Friday update will be provided on our District Website under the “COVID-19 Resources” tab.

As of today, Friday, August 28, 2020, the St. James R-I School District has the following numbers as reported by the Phelps/Maries County Department of Health:

Week of August 24-28:

  • Newly Reported COVID Positive Staff Cases: 0
  • Newly Reported COVID Positive Student Cases: 0
  • Present number of Quarantined Staff: 1
  • Present number of Quarantined Students: 2

Based on the numbers above, we will remain in Daily Mode Indicator – Level 2.

I would like to thank our parents for being forthcoming in notifying us of direct exposure, quarantines, and potential cases. It is truly a community effort to minimize the spread of the virus and to help keep our schools safe, healthy, and open.
