Dear STJ Families,
After careful consideration and evaluation of county and statewide COVID daily case rates, St. James Middle School and John F. Hodge High School will remain in the Hybrid Learning Format until further notice. Remaining in this format will allow students and staff to maintain consistency in health/safety protocols, schedules, and expectations for the time being. Due to the difficulties in creating consistent cohorts at the secondary level, bringing all students back too soon could unnecessarily place the district in the position of increased quarantine numbers. It is our goal to return to full seated instruction as soon as data supports that the health and safety risks of students and staff will be minimized. This decision was made after consultation with the Phelps-Maries County Department of Health and the St. James R-I leadership team. As a reminder, the week of January 18-22, we will not be in session on Monday, January 18 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. During this week, “White (K-Z)” students will attend seated instruction on Tuesday (1/19) and Thursday (1/21), while “Red (A-J)” students will attend seated instruction on Wednesday (1/20) and Friday (1/22).
The district will provide a week’s notice prior to the all-student 6-12 return to school.
